Repaving the Dojo Parking Lot

The recent heavy rains have made it more pressing to repave the Dojo parking lot soon. It looks like it will cost approximately $40,000.

Click the Donate Now button above to chip in to help repave the Dojo parking lot. You can also send a check to Chozen-ji, 3565 Kalihi Street, Honolulu, HI 96819.

Knowing that everybody who visits Chozen-ji uses the parking lot, donating to the repaving is a way to positively impact the whole Dojo community. Donations large and small are needed and welcomed, especially as charitable contributions have declined recently due to the COVID pandemic and inflation.

Dojo Repairs & Upgrades

Dojo members have been hard at work maintaining the buildings and grounds of Chozen-ji. Over the last six months we have completed several projects.

With help from live-in Michael Zens from Germany, who's a woodworker, we replaced the rotting columns in front of Chozen-ji and the Kyudo Dojo. We also refinished the floor in Kyudo after many years of students getting splinters in their tabi. Michael also helped reorganize the workshop and maintain many of the Dojo’s tools.

Beyond our regular landscaping and maintenance work and the new parking lot, we have some larger projects on the horizon including repainting of the teahouse. We will also be replacing the fluorescent lights in the Dojo and the parking lot lights with more energy efficient fixtures.

Please reach out if you can help with the projects or can financially support our continued commitment to provide a world class training facility free of charge to all who want to do shugyo.
